GoOutToday recommends family days out based on today's weather, your kids' ages, and how far you're willing to drive. This page explains exactly what that requires us to know about you.
The short version
- We store your email, your kids' first names & ages, your saved places, and your preferences — tied to your account.
- Your location is used live, on your device, to fetch weather and nearby places. We do not store your location history.
- We log anonymous in-app usage (which page was viewed, which place/event was opened) to understand what's useful — never tied to your account.
- No advertising, no analytics SDKs, no data brokers, and we never sell your data.
- You can delete your account and everything in it, permanently, from the Profile tab at any time.
1Introduction
GoOutToday ("we", "our", or "the App") is developed and operated by Hao Li. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how it's stored, and the rights you have over it.
By creating an account and using GoOutToday, you agree to the practices described here. If you don't agree, please discontinue use of the App.
2Data We Collect
We collect only what GoOutToday needs to recommend places and remember your family's setup:
2.1 Account data
- Email address — used to sign you in and for account recovery.
- Password — stored in encrypted form by our authentication provider; we never see it in plain text.
2.2 Family & kids data
- Kids' profiles: a first name, age, an emoji avatar you pick, and optional tags (e.g. "Stroller Required", "Picky Eater") — entered by you, used to age-match recommendations.
- Preferences: how far you're willing to drive, your preferred temperature unit, and which membership passes you hold (e.g. a zoo or National Trust membership).
- Saved places: the venues you bookmark in the Saved tab.
2.3 Location
GoOutToday asks for your device's location to show local weather and nearby recommendations. This is used live, at the moment you open the app — we do not store your location history on our servers. It's sent, per request, to the weather service and mapping service described in Section 4.
2.4 Usage analytics
We log anonymous in-app usage events — which page was viewed, which place, event, or offer was opened, whether the Quick Decision wizard was completed — to understand which features are actually useful. Each event is just an event name plus a place/activity ID; it is not linked to your account, email, or user ID. This is written directly to our own Supabase database — no third-party analytics SDK is used.
What we don't collect
- No advertising or device identifiers
- No third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs
- No payment information — GoOutToday has no purchases
- No browsing or usage tracking across other apps or websites
3How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively to run the App's features:
- Matching recommendations to your kids' ages, your drive-time tolerance, and the passes you hold
- Showing local weather and air quality, and factoring them into today's picks
- Keeping your saved places and family setup in sync if you use the app on another device
- Signing you in and securing your account
- Understanding which features people actually use, via the anonymous usage analytics described in Section 2.4
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or any other commercial purpose.
4Third-Party Services
A few specialized services help GoOutToday work. Each only ever sees the minimum it needs to do its one job:

5Storage & Security
Your account data — email, kids' profiles, preferences, saved places — is stored with Supabase, encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest, and protected by row-level security rules so only your signed-in account can read or write it.
A small amount of on-device-only data (which place was recommended to you most recently, so we can suggest something different next time) stays in your device's local storage and is never sent to our servers.
6Data Retention & Deletion
Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and everything tied to it at any time:

Deletion is immediate and irreversible — your kids' profiles, saved places, and preferences are permanently removed from our servers.
7Children's Privacy
GoOutToday is intended for use by parents and caregivers aged 16 and over. Information about children (first name, age, tags) is entered by, and associated with, the parent's account — children do not have their own accounts, and we do not knowingly collect data directly from children.
8Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data, directly in the Profile tab
- Delete your data, via Delete Account
- Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account

9Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continuing to use GoOutToday after a change means you accept the revised policy.
